Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, technically strong, and passionate individual to join our Avionics Systems team in Santa Cruz, CA, to support the development of the Joby S4 Crew Alerting System. They will support requirements management and the implementation of crew alerts for different prototype aircraft, and also for the Type Certification design intent aircraft. This position requires a relentless drive for engineering excellence and execution in an environment with multiple stakeholders and inputs. The position will work cross-functionally and support the team through the entire development cycle, from early prototyping through validation and verification to final production support.
Responsibilities
• Work with the Crew Alerting System focal engineer to implement crew alerts for different prototype aircraft
• Support avionics system and SV (System Verification) testing at integrated labs and on the aircraft
• Coordinate discussions between Human Factors, Systems Engineering, System Safety, Flight Test, and Flight Operations to develop crew alert messages and associated procedures
• Interface with Flight Test to develop and maintain Pilot Procedures
• Investigate flight test and Integrated Test Lab issues
Required
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics required; Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
• Software knowledge of Linux and C++
• Understanding and application of disciplined systems engineering processes
• Familiarity with requirements management
• Familiarity with safety assessment concepts
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively, with self-starter skills that enable self-sufficiency
Desired
• FAA Private pilot license
• Hands-on experience developing test procedures or supporting lab/aircraft integration testing
• Familiarity with FAA Part 23, Part 25, Part 27, and/or Part 29 Certification Regulations (Part 23 is highly desired)
• Familiarity with safety assessment processes, methods, and analyses (FHA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, CCA) used in safety assessments (PSSA, SSA) per SAE ARP4761
• Familiarity with human factors concepts
• Use of Requirements Management tools (working knowledge of Siemens Polarion is a plus)
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $86,900 - $119,900/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
