Job description
What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve. At the moment, this role is focused on:
• Providing primary/elementary topics and prescribing learning assessments based on curriculum performance tasks, to be used as the foundation of the templates produced
• Developing the content plan and direction across multiple subject areas with the creative team
• Reviewing written creative briefs for new elements (illustrations, photos, and/or videos) to ensure topic relevancy and grade-level appropriateness
• Reviewing the curriculum alignment of the topics written by the creative team
• Ensuring elements used are appropriate for their intended educational purpose, and that the layout of the template facilitates smooth flow of concepts
• Reviewing whether learning assessment activities written by the creative team align with the performance tasks specified in the curriculum
You're probably a match if
• You hold an education degree or relevant primary/elementary teaching qualification (e.g. Primary or Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or Child Development/Psychology).
• You've taught or created content for primary/elementary learners (approx. Grades K–6), ideally across multiple subjects like literacy, numeracy, science, or the arts.
• You have experience with a primary curriculum framework, such as US Common Core, Australian Curriculum F–6, UK KS1–KS2, or the Philippine K–6 curriculum.
• You've created curriculum-aligned content outside a classroom — textbooks, modules, templates, or other multimedia.
• You write excellent English and can produce original copy that matches Canva's voice and brand guidelines.
• You can translate curriculum knowledge into clear, actionable feedback for non-teacher stakeholders like designers, PMs, and engineers.
About the team
Canva connects with the education community as a go-to platform for students, parents, teachers, and schools, as they explore more creative and collaborative features to suit their needs. Providing education users with innovative tools also means supporting them with an array of learning materials that are both ready-to-use and easily adaptable. We also need to ensure these materials are vetted by subject matter experts, developed in line with curriculum guidelines and academic standards of various locales, and created with engaging and flexible copy for users to put their own spin on it.
