Facilities Engineer
As a Facilities Engineer at Astranis, you will be responsible for the design, modification, and maintenance of existing and new facilities infrastructure here at historic Pier 70 in San Francisco.
Role
• Own the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of facility infrastructure supporting spacecraft manufacturing, including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, liquid nitrogen, process cooling water, and other building utility systems.
• Lead capital improvement projects from concept through commissioning, including facility expansions, equipment installations, infrastructure upgrades, contractor coordination, budgeting, and schedule management.
• Partner with Manufacturing, Environmental Test, and various other teams to build out the factory in a scalable way.
• Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for facility systems utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), driving improvements in equipment uptime, asset lifecycle, and maintenance efficiency.
• Implement and monitor facility performance metrics, including energy usage, utility capacity, equipment reliability, and maintenance targets, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including utility layouts, standard operating procedures, infrastructure specifications, as-built drawings, and equipment records to support long-term facility operations.
• Own the factory-wide master layout.
• Manage outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants for large infrastructure projects.
• Maintain Environmental Health & Safety compliance with OSHA, NFPA, environmental regulations, and internal safety requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase the reliability, maintainability, and scalability of Astranis' manufacturing facilities to support rapid production growth.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses; perform root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee hazardous waste programs, including storage, handling, transportation, and disposal in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical degree.
• 3+ years of experience working as a Facilities Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of and the ability to execute large infrastructure upgrades, including HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical systems.
• Strong organizational and structured project management skills.
• Must be onsite 5 days a week.
Bonus
• Experience designing and building cleanrooms.
• Experience designing factory infrastructure for aerospace or equivalent industries.
• Design experience using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
• Experience programming and operating digital Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Prior experience implementing a new CMMS.
• Experience managing an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) program.

Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.
Base Salary
$125,000-$155,000 USD
