The Role
As a Junior Public Affairs Associate on the Public Affairs & Communications team, you will help develop and execute our global public policy strategy. This role exists to strengthen our understanding of the regulatory environment around AI and support our advocacy work as we expand internationally. You will collaborate across distributed teams in France, the UK, and the US, ensuring that Mistral's interests are represented and that we stay ahead of policy developments. Your work will inform key decisions and help maintain strong relationships with industry associations and internal stakeholders.
What You Will Do
•
Monitor and analyze key public policy issues and changes relating to AI
•
Support the creation and execution of public policy strategies aligned with Mistral’s objectives
•
Identify, prioritize, and draft responses to policy issues directly affecting our organization
•
Solve policy challenges using varied approaches and innovative thinking
•
Drive and coordinate policy campaigns to back our advocacy efforts
•
Build and nurture connections with industry associations and partners
•
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations
•
Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations on public policy for both internal and external use
What We're Looking For
•
At least a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or a related field
•
1-2 years working in public affairs, policy research, or a related area; technology sector experience is a plus
•
Solid grasp of how policy is shaped and decisions are made across France, the EU, and the US
•
Strong analytical abilities to distill complex issues and propose practical responses
•
Excellent writing, oral communication, and relationship-building skills
•
Experience working independently and as part of a team, with a proactive mindset
•
Fluency in English; additional language skills are advantageous
•
Knowledge of the AI regulatory landscape, especially the EU AI Act, is valuable
