Job description
About Campus
Campus is on a mission to accelerate the talent of tomorrow and reimagine what college can (and should) be. The problem is clear: college costs have skyrocketed, but outcomes haven’t. Traditional college hasn’t kept up with the aspirations of today’s students—and they can’t afford to wait.
At Campus, we’ve built a two-year, accredited college where students learn from top professors at universities like Princeton, Stanford, and Howard, in live, online classes. Our students graduate with in-demand business and AI skills—ready to launch their careers or transfer to top four-year universities. Our unique approach is grounded in a pioneering technology platform and a heavily-researched student success model that offers students dedicated advisors and on-demand tutoring and coaching. We were also named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies of 2024.
We’re backed by an exceptional investor team that believes deeply in our vision for the future of education, including General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Bloomberg Beta, 8VC, Rethink Education, Sam Altman, Jason Citron, Shaquille O’Neal, and others.
The world has changed. Higher ed needs to catch up, and we’re leading the way - come join us!
About the role
We are looking for a Director of Operations to lead and continuously improve one of Campus's most critical operational functions. In the near term, your primary focus will be Financial Aid and the operational processes that support the student financial experience. Over time, this role may expand into additional student-facing operational areas as Campus grows.
Reporting to the COO, you'll work closely with Financial Aid leaders and cross-functional partners to optimize day-to-day operations, solve bottlenecks, and design scalable processes that improve both the student and staff experience.
This is not a "keep the lights on" role. We're looking for an operator who knows how to improve and scale an existing function. You'll inherit a complex operation and be responsible for identifying bottlenecks, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, developing managers, and continuously improving systems and processes as Campus grows.
You're someone who enjoys taking an operation that's already working and making it significantly better. You use data, operational judgment, and strong cross-functional partnerships to improve how work gets done at scale—and you're energized by continuously refining and evolving an operation rather than simply maintaining it.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
•
Partner with Financial Aid leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to improve and scale critical student-facing operations.
•
Serve as a strategic advisor to the COO on operational risks, opportunities, and resource planning.
•
Support critical processes such as aid applications, disbursements, billing, refunds, and payment plans — ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
•
Improve existing workflows, identify operational bottlenecks, and implement scalable processes that increase efficiency, quality, and team effectiveness.
•
Create and maintain SOPs that keep cross-functional teams (Admissions, Registrar, Student Success, Financial Aid, Product, etc.) aligned and consistent in how student-facing processes are executed.
•
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to design, implement, and drive adoption of technology-enabled operational improvements.
•
Establish performance metrics and dashboards to monitor progress, identify issues early, and continuously improve service.
•
Flex into new operational areas over time as Campus continues to scale.
We’re excited about you because…
•
8+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, including leading managers and improving complex operational functions through periods of growth, increasing scale, and organizational change.
•
Strong people management skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.
•
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a bias toward action and measurable results.
•
Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering to implement technology-enabled operational improvements.
•
Strong project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
•
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
•
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.
What you’ll get:
•
A compensation package that includes a base salary $140,000 - $170,000 + equity grant
•
Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, base salary will be localized.
•
Medical Insurance + free Dental and Vision Insurance
•
401(k) match
•
Fertility benefits via Carrot
•
Flexible Time Away + paid holidays
•
In-office lunches for our NY Office (did we mention, we’re dog friendly? 🐶)
•
Flexible working hours & a hybrid work schedule (Mon & Fri remote; Tues-Thurs in-office)
•
Social events - happy hours, birthday celebrations, holiday parties, & more!
•
Opportunity to make an impact – you’ll be an integral player in bringing our vision to life
Where we’re located: Tribeca, NY
