About the role: Lumafield is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to work directly with customer engineering and manufacturing teams as part of the Applications Engineering team. FDEs deploy to customer sites for engagements that can range from one to ten, or potentially more, weeks, executing the technical scope of work on the customer's floor and serving as the on-site face of Lumafield. Our travel policy supports standardized trips home during longer engagements. This role becomes an expert in all aspects of the Lumafield platform — all hardware product lines, Voyager and related custom software— and applies that expertise hands-on at the customer site. FDEs may run scans, perform Voyager analysis, support ML model implementation, and drive customer training and adoption. Engagements are defined in a Statement of Work (SOW), managed with Project Managers, and supported by the broader Applications Engineering team in addition to Lumafield's product and engineering organizations. Day-to-day execution at the customer site is owned by the FDE. Because FDEs are often the only Lumafield representative on the ground for weeks at a time, excellent customer-facing communication and the ability to operate autonomously are core requirements of the role.
