Job description
Company Description
We’re Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.
We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.
Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.
If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.
With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.
At Checkout.com, we power the world’s most ambitious businesses. We’re determined to build the best fintech brand in the world, and our Creative team is the powerhouse driving that vision.
As a Brand Designer (15-month Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover), you will turn complex, abstract business concepts into clear, compelling, and world-class creative outputs. You will take cues from our established brand system and use your expertise to apply it distinctively and consistently to make an impact every day.
This role sits within our dynamic Brand & Creative team in London. You will work in a highly collaborative environment alongside copywriters, fellow designers, and sharp marketers, while partnering cross-functionally with Product Design through regular Design Town Halls to cultivate our shared visual vision.
How You’ll Make an Impact
•
Drive Visual Problem-Solving: Partner closely with copywriters and designers to explore, develop, and visualize conceptual approaches for integrated marketing campaigns across digital advertising, email, and targeted direct mail.
•
Execute Experiential & Event Design: Support the creation of branded event collateral and experiential assets for our flagship global events, bringing immersive brand spaces to life with support from senior creatives.
•
Champion Commercial Enablement: Design unique RFP responses and tailored visual experiences for strategic accounts, collaborating with commercial partners to maximize our chance of winning while building scalable solutions.
•
Evolve the Brand System: Act as a thoughtful guardian of our brand identity, creating new brand elements and sub-brands for key programs while adapting templated assets to make repeatable work more efficient.
•
Deliver Confident Craft: Own day-to-day stakeholder conversations, think beyond single assets to consider overall content flow, and deliver high-standard outputs that strictly match project specs.
•
Foster Creative Culture: Actively contribute to the team’s creative culture by sharing ideas, learning from others, and proactively seeking constructive feedback to continuously iterate for better solutions.
What We’re Looking For
•
Design Expertise: Strong background in graphic or brand design, with an exceptional aptitude for typography, layout, and visual storytelling across digital, print, and physical touchpoints.
•
System Thinking: Ability to think in systems, understanding how small and large design choices affect the broader brand experience and how to scale design consistency.
•
Collaborative Mindset: A true team player who works seamlessly with cross-functional stakeholders, values diverse perspectives, and knows when to bring in support to execute a brief.
•
Accountability & Ownership: Deeply accountable for your work, with a proven ability to manage project timelines, share progress clearly, and learn from mistakes to build internal trust.
•
Agility & Self-Motivation: Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to "wear many hats" when required.
•
Communication & Presentation Skills: Confident articulating your design work, creative process, and strategic choices to non-creative internal business partners.
•
Growth Orientation: Driven by a love for learning, a desire to welcome constructive feedback, and an excitement to grow even if you don't check every single requirement on day one.
